Class Divide launches its manifesto for the 2024 General Election

Changing the School System so Children from Low-Income Families and Communities Thrive in Education

Our mission is to make Brighton & Hove the best place to go to school if you are a child from a low-income family or community. However, we recognise that achieving this goal requires changes to national education policy.

Today, we are proud to launch our manifesto, outlining the five crucial actions the next government must take to ensure children from low-income backgrounds have equity in education.

  1. Prioritise Children Eligible for Free School Meals in Secondary School Admissions

  2. Free Public Transport for All Schoolchildren

  3. Increase Pupil Premium Funding and Ensure It’s Used Appropriately

  4. Encourage and Support Working-Class Individuals to Become Teachers

  5. Create an Inclusive Education System for All

Class Divide is building a movement for educational equity in Brighton and Hove.
We want Brighton & Hove to be the best place to go to school if you are a child from a low-income family or community, and we want to spread these ideas across the country.

Please share this manifesto with friends, family, work colleagues and election candidates. We are only going to make these changes happen if we get these ideas out there. We’ve produced a pack of shareable content for you to use on social media, you can access this here.
